Follow the steps below to learn how to build your PowerNetwork!
PN uses Microsoft Office 365 to create an internal social network for exchanging career resources and fostering career development through communication. All PN user interactions currently take place in Office 365.
The primary applications in PN are Skype for Business, People, Sharepoint, Delve, Yammer, Planner, and Calendar.
Click “Sign up” on the mypowernetwork.org home page and fill out the form. You will receive a username and temporary password from a Microsoft Online Services Team email account (check your junk mail for receipt).
Click “Log-in” on the mypowernetwork.org home page. Then you will be linked to the PN portal powered by Office 365 where you will enter the username and password previously provided by the Microsoft Online Services email account.
Once you enter the password provided by Microsoft, you will be asked to choose a new password that is your own.
After you sign in, you will be prompted to install Skype for Business (required for voice and video Power Sessions). Follow the instructions provided to download Skype for Business. Skype for Business is also available as an app to download on your Iphone or Android device.
You will also be prompted to set your time zone. Please do so. The Chicago time zone is “Central Time (U.S. and Canada)”

After signing in through the portal, you will see an apps home page. You may upload your personal profile information in the “Delve” app under the “Me” tab located on the left of the screen. Be sure to include the following information:
The app finder button is at the top right corner of the screen. Click the “People” app.
The complete directory with all Power Consultants and Members is located in the “Directory” tab on the left side of the page in the “Groups” app.
Click the Skype logo near the top right of the groups app to search for and message PN Users.
Click the “Yammer” app to participate in shared chats with the entire PowerNetwork community.
View PN Members and Consultant profiles on “Delve”.
In the “People” app, click the “Groups” tab to explore your career interests (e.g. IT Careers Group, Marketing Careers Group, etc).
College students in STEM majors with a 3.0 GPA or higher will be added to the “Tech Consulting Careers” Group to receive exclusive access to paid internships.
After clicking on “Groups”, click the “Site” button under the “More” tab at the top of the Group window to access webinars and resources related to your career group.
Another way to access the career webinars is to click the “Videos” app
The “My Career Path” Group site contains a step-by-step career map on the road to your best fitting career. Each step in the career map is a topic to discuss with your Power Consultant.
Ask questions to give insight on your personal career map.
The “Soft Skills” Group site contains a guide to help students demonstrate the soft skills that companies are looking for in an employee.
Click the “Planner” app to create your own personal career map and your own personal career skills repository. Label the career skills repository as with your name_skills (ex: James Smith_Skills). Label the career map as your name_map (ex: James Smith_Map)
Power Consultants post calendar invitations to Power Sessions on your calendar. Click the “Calendar” app to view invitations to a Power Session. A maximum of five members can participate in one Power Session. Double click the Power Session invitation and click “accept” to view declare your attendance to a Power Session. Click the link in the invitation in “Calendar” to join the Power Session.
You can download the Microsoft Outlook app for iPhone and Android to view calendar invitations and PowerNetwork emails on the go!
